About the Picture

As a child I found the act of imagining the myriad creatures living below the ocean a source of wonder. Playing in rock pools; sometimes falling into them; the search for the strange and otherworldly was undertaken. But what happens when you reveal all that is hidden, all that is different and strange; what happens when the sea dries up? There is something fascinating about the site of this otherwise hidden realm, but the revelation that drew back the waves brings with it death. All the animals of the sea must shrivel under the rays of a baking sun.
